The Family Upstairs
by Lisa Jewell
For me it was more like a Drama than a
thriller. I really like Twisted thrillers, yet I found this book a bit
confusing.
Its Libby Jones’s twenty fifth birthday
and she is receiving a letter that she has been waiting for her entire life, a
letter that will reveal who she is. But one thing she doesn’t know is that
others are also waiting for this moment.
The story is told from three viewpoint
the first one is Libby, who is working in a company that sells kitchens. She was
adopted when she was a young baby and now with this letter on her twenty fifth birthday,
she finds out that she has inherited a mansion worth thousands of pounds in Chelsea,
England and has to go to the law office and claim it.
The second one is Lucy who Marco and
Sally’s mom and is single. Lucy earns her family’s living by playing her fiddle
and just when she is so busy thinking how to provide money and take care of her
children, she has to join her siblings and meet the girl who inherits her
family home.
Lastly there is Henry whose family were
the first owners of the mansion in Chelsea. Henry went through a lot seeing his
family and his house devastating after David Thomson came along with his family
and stayed there.
It was not an anticipated novel for me
and until the closing chapter I had no idea what was going on.
